NFL Africa Zone week 4: Kamara’s Perfect 10 edition

Ezekiel Ansah (Detroit Lions DE #94) – Ziggy had an excellent start to the season on Monday Night Football against the New York Giants in week 2, as he tallied up three sacks and a forced fumble while playing a limited number of snaps (28) on his return from injury. Ansah was ineffective the following week despite playing 33 snaps as the Lions lost a close game to the Atlanta Falcons. Coming off a three-tackle performance against the Minnesota Vikings this past Sunday, Ziggy will look to provide the Lions with more consistent pressure on the Carolina Panthers in the next game.

The Panthers’ offensive line has been poor for the most part this season but got a massive confidence boost with their performance in a victory over the New England Patriots on Sunday. Ansah will provide the Panthers’ O-line with another stern test in week 5.

Brown has settled into a steadier role for the Cardinals of late, averaging 9.7 targets over his past three games and posting more than 10 fantasy points in PPR scoring in each of them. For a deep league flex play, Brown fits the bill.

McGuire is the third-string running back for the Jets, but this sixth-round pick has announced himself over the past couple of weeks. He had 10 carries for 93 yards and a touchdown in Week 4. The Jets will rely on Bilal Powell and Matt Forte (when the latter gets back from a Cheap Jerseys Supply turf toe injury), but this is a back-by-committee offense, and McGuire is a deep, deep league add.

We’ll see whether Davante Adams misses time following a scary hit in Week 4. If Cheap Jerseys Wholesale he does, Allison is likely to take on a more prominent role in this offense (Randall Cobb’s already busy workload will increase too); and when you have Aaron Rodgers as your quarterback, that’s noteworthy. He’s a deep league add.

Astros GM says Carlos Gomez has to start hitting to avoid being benched

One of the (many) reasons the Astros are underperforming: center fielderCarlos Gomez. The 30-year-old impending free agent comes into Monday heading a meager .182/.238/.248 (36 OPS+) with no home runs and only 5 RBI. He’s struck out 46 times in 121 at-bats. Only the Nationals (.490 OPS) have gotten worse production from their center fielders than the Astros (.494).

On Monday, Astros GM Jeff Luhnow stated what should be pretty obvious at this point. Gomez has to start hitting to avoid being benched.

Luhnow on Gomez: “I think he’s going to have to turn it around at some point otherwise we’re not going to be able to continue to play him.”

The Astros called up prospect Tony Kemp on Monday, and Kemp is fully capable of playing center field. The team could also slide either Colby Rasmus or George Springer into center field. They have options at the position.

Gomez hasn’t hit much since coming over from the Brewers in a trade last season. He put up a .242/.288/.383 (84 OPS+) batting line in 41 games with the Astros last year after hitting .262/.328/.423 (104 OPS+) in 74 games with Milwaukee. Gomez hit .284/.356/.477 (129 OPS+) with 23 home runs and 34 steals as recently as 2014, remember.

Manager A.J. Hinch has already started to scale back on Gomez’s playing time. Jake Marisnick has started two of the last three and three of the last eight games in center field. Kemp is not coming up to ride the bench, so Gomez figures to lose more playing time going forward.

Gomez will be a free agent after this season, and while there is still plenty of season to go, it is very much in doubt whether the Astros will make him a qualifying offer. Gomez is still reasonably young, but, if he doesn’t pick up the pace and soon, he’s going to wind up costing himself a ton of money.

Antonio Cromartie will be keeping busy this summer, even if he remains a free agent. He also won’t be getting much sleep.

On Sunday, Cromartie’s wife, Terricka Cromartie, gave birth to twins, named Jynx Revell-Antonio Cromartie and J’adore Nayvi Cromartie, as US Weekly reported.

Before Manziel can do that, though, he’ll need to sort out his legal future. In late January, Manziel allegedly assaulted Colleen Crowley, whose attorney alleged that Manziel ruptured her eardrum during the incident. Last week, Manziel turned himself into police after a grand jury indicted him. He was released on bail and appeared in court on Thursday, where a judge ordered him to stay away from Crowley and told him that he wasn’t allowed to possess any firearms.

Manziel declined to comment to reporters at the hearing.

“I get kind of emotional about it because he’s very close to me. He’s really a great kid. And it’s a shame that he’s been categorized like he his. But he’s brought that on himself,” Smith said. “We’re always going to be there for him. We’ll continue to love him just like I love the people in my family.”
